Texas
has the second largest prison institution in the country. As correctional officers, we are ranked 48th on the pay scale, our
average max pay is $30,000 and the national average is $38,000. We as correctional officers put our lives on the line day
in and day out to protect and serve the public of Texas from these convicted felons. This petition is being created for the
sole purpose of pay raises for all correctional officers in the State of Texas to bring us up to the national average of all
correctional officers and also to bring us up from the ever increasing poverty level and cost of living. We have
given up important jobs due to Reduction in Force, have had to endure added jobs without the benefit of added pay, we have
trimmed our budget to the bare and now its time for the State to give back to those who have nothing to show for it but ever
increasing stress levels.

will be added to the below list in the format shown. Once enough names are compiled, it will be printed out along with
the above text and a copy will be forwarded to the Governor's Office, Local and State Senators.
